Beginning Wheel - Sundays 2pm
In this class, we will explore the fundamentals of wheel-throwing! This includes a general understanding of the ceramic firing process, wedging, centering, pulling, trimming and glazing. Each week will include a technical demonstration, a follow-along demo, as well as hands-on help. Our projects will include basic cylinders, bowls, plates and mugs. This class is perfect for those new to ceramics or who have just started their journey and want to hone in on the basics.
This 7-week class will start on March 1st and end on April 19th. There will be no class on April 5th (Easter Sunday).
Every Sunday at 2:00pm, we will meet as a class for demonstrations and help for 2.5 hours. Outside of the class, you will get unlimited access to the studio and its equipment. Practice is essential for learning pottery, and our 24-7 studio allows for you to practice wheel-throwing on your schedule.
During our first class, we will go over the safety, etiquette and rules of a community studio, so you will be well-prepared for self-guided practice. You will be given a personal shelf for project and clay storage. As long as there's no on-going class, the student wheels and tables are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
All firing costs are included. You will receive a 25lb bag of clay on the first day and an email with more information will be sent the day prior.
If you would like to join a waitlist for a sold out class please email us at info@ohanaceramics.com with your name and the desired class. We will fill cancelations on a first-come, first-serve basis.
